J.I Velodrome

The story

Set in the public realm around Rawamangun's velodrome, J.I Velodrome is a placemaking scheme that turns leftover ground into a lively, flexible sports-and-social plaza. A bold black-and-white triangular pavement choreographs the space, threading together basketball and multi-use courts, a pool, playful oversized 'umbrella' canopies and small timber-and-steel tenant kiosks. The design leans on modularity — mobile tiered stairs can be detached from tenant units and recombined into an open-air amphitheatre — so the plaza can shift from everyday recreation to gathering and performance.
