The story
For a family already rooted in Kemang, Jakarta Selatan, the brief was to bring the calm of a London suburban home to the tropics — the quiet, greenery-wrapped domesticity of a Northern-European house, reimagined for the way they live. Poiesis answered with a two-storey family house arranged around a garden courtyard, its architecture kept deliberately modern and simple: crisp white gable volumes grounded by split-face stone, vertical timber battens, standing-seam metal and a green living wall that softens the massing. The restraint outside is a foil for a premium interior. Inside, a warm minimalism prevails — micro-cement and plaster walls, fluted timber, exposed board-formed concrete, oak joinery and polished concrete floors — opening through slim black-framed glazing onto a lily pond, striped lawn and lap pool. The program reaches from an open living-kitchen and window-seat nooks to bedrooms, a walk-in dressing room and a home gym, each space drawn toward daylight and planting so the house feels less like a villa in the city than a leafy suburban retreat.
